How many community service hours fellows required to complete?

Fellows are required to complete 450 hours. Statewide and UCLA campus trainings completed AFTER the onboarding process count toward student’s 450-hour service requirement.

Will I be paid as a College Corp Fellow?

Yes! Each student will receive two awards, a living stipend and an education award, with a combined total of up to $10,000. Living stipends will be disbursed throughout service term and will be discontinued shall a student withdraw from the program. Education award will be granted upon completion of the 450 service hours. Students who are unable to complete the full450 service hours will not receive the education award.

Will the Bruin One Bill initiative affect my disbursement?

Financial aid disbursements are automatically applied to your Registration Fees & Campus Charges account, so if you have an outstanding balance, then your disbursement may be reduced.

I am an undocumented student, am I still eligible for the award and stipend?

Yes! However, the onboarding process differs for Undocumented Fellows.

Are there any training requirements for program participation?

Yes. Please look for updates from your College Corps at UCLA team.

When are timesheets due?

Timesheet due dates can be found on the calendar on the Current Fellows page.

Are there activities that fellows are not allowed to participate in?

Certain activities are prohibited for fellows. Please carefully read the list of prohibited and unallowable activities whilecharging time to the College Corps or AmeriCorps program, accumulating service or training hours, or otherwise performing activities supported by the College Corps program or AmeriCorps.

Can I be employed while I am a doing College Corps?

Yes! However, if you are currently participating in other programs associated with ArmeriCorps (BruinCorps, Jumpstart, etc…), please check with us first. Dual enrollment is not allowedand can impact your financial aid package.

Can I be reimbursed for travel expenses?

Yes! Program participants will receive reimbursement for public transportation (bus) or mileage (car) expenses. For more guidance please reach out to us via the Message Center

Do other activities count towards my community service hours?

Yes! Statewide and UCLA campus training count toward a student's 450-hour service requirement. Up to 90 hours of community service hours can be training and can be counted toward your 450-hour requirement.

What do I do if I fall behind in community service hours?

You will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with your program liaison during 1:1 meetings. Additionally, College Corps at UCLA staff will work with you through the year to create pathways toward successful program completion, as needed. It is your responsibility to connect with program Staff when you fall behind on hours. Do not wait until it is too late!

How do I submit my timesheet?

Fellows will use the AmericaLearns site to track their hours. This system will be used by program staff, community partners, and ALL fellows to track hours.

Will the program affect my financial aid package?

Everyone's situation is different. If you have specific questions concerning how your financial aid package may be impacted please reach out to the College Corps at UCLA staff via the Message Center.

Do I need a TB test?

Some K-12 site placements might require a TB test.

Are there additional steps for students who have recently adjusted their immigration status?

If you have recently adjusted your immigration status to that of a U.S. Citizen please notify your local social security office so that this change can be updated on their database. You will also need to update the registrar's office and College Corps Staff.
